Outdoor Burning

Burning within the Tulalip Reservation is regulated by the Tulalip Tribes. The Marysville Fire District permits and enforces outdoor burning regulations within its service area, with the exception of those properties residing within the borders of the Tulalip Reservation. Though your local fire agency responds to burning complaints, all outdoor burning questions including requests for burning permits (and enforcement) within the Reservation are directed to, and handled by, the Tulalip Tribes (360.651.4014). Generally speaking, the rules for outdoor burning within the Reservation are similar to those outside the Reservation.

Burning within an Urban Growth Area (UGA) is restricted to only a few allowances, the most common being recreational fires (see below), and for barbequing. Yard debris burning is not allowed within the UGA. If you’re not sure if you are in a UGA, please contact your local fire department prior to burning.  Doing so can save you time, expense and embarrassment.
