Marysville Fire District is proposing a Regular Levy Lid Lift on the August 5th ballot.
This levy lid lift would restore the district’s current regular levy from $1.04 to $1.45, an amount previously approved by voters in 2019, and will provide much-needed funding to support the district's continued ability to deliver high-quality emergency services to the community

What is a Levy Lid Lift? A levy lid lift is a way for local governments, like the Marysville Fire District, to restore their funding. This is not a new tax- simply a renewal of a previously voter-approved levy.
Why is the Marysville Fire District asking for a Levy Lid Lift?
As our community grows and costs increase, the district needs more funding to maintain emergency services like fire response and medical care. The levy lid lift will provide the additional revenue
needed to meet these growing demands and ensure our fire department continues to operate efficiently.
How will the Levy Lid Lift affect my property taxes?
If approved, the levy lid lift will slightly increase the amount of property tax you pay. However, this increase will go directly to funding fire services, including staffing, equipment, and
emergency response capabilities. The levy lid lift will increase property taxes by approximately $3.42 per $100K of assessed value per month. For the average homeowner, that equals $18.47 per month
(based on a home value of $539,700).
What will the funds be used for?
The funds will be used to support essential services such as hiring and training more firefighters, purchasing necessary equipment, and maintaining and upgrading fire stations. These improvements
will help maintain fast response times, improve public safety, provide fire prevention and education, and ensure the Fire District can meet the needs of a growing community.
How does this impact emergency response services?
With the increased funding from the levy lid lift, the fire district will be able to maintain emergency response times and improve our current resources, such as additional fire engines, personnel,
and medical equipment. This ensures that we continue to provide knowledgeable and efficient services during emergencies.
What about Emergency Medical Services (EMS)?
Medical emergencies make up more than 80 percent of Marysville Fire District's total calls for service. Every firefighter is certified as an Emergency Medical Technician (trained to provide basic life support) or a Paramedic (trained to provide advanced life support) so we can respond to our community's needs 24 hours each day. EMS funding is critical to maintain these vital services.
How will the Fire District ensure the money is used properly?
The Marysville Fire District is committed to transparency. The funds will directly contribute to improved fire services and community safety. Our annual reports can be found here.
What happens if the Levy Lid Lift doesn't pass?
If the levy lid lift does not pass, the district will face increased financial challenges. This could result in fewer personnel and a reduction in services, which could affect public
safety.
