Assistant Chief Tom Maloney has been re-elected as President of the Washington State Association of Fire Marshals (WSAFM). This will be Assistant Chief Maloney’s second term serving the organization, which represents fire marshals and prevention members throughout the state to support livable communities by code adoption, risk reduction, legislative initiatives, and professional development.
”As president, I get to work with some amazing individuals that promote all of these areas to ensure Washingtonians can thrive within their communities,” says Maloney. “It is truly an honor to serve as president and I am privileged to have the support of Chief Vander Pol and the Marysville Fire District to continue this opportunity.”
Assistant Chief Maloney has been with Marysville Fire District since October 2008. He began his fire service career as a volunteer in upstate New York in 1984 and served as a Fire Chief in New York and Montana.
Marysville Fire Chief Ned Vander Pol added “the WSAFM does excellent proactive work when it comes to fire prevention, and having Assistant Chief Maloney helping coordinate, manage, and lead the association helps the residents of the Marysville Fire District and the entire state. It is the hard work of fire marshals and fire prevention specialists that has immediate and lifesaving impact upon people everywhere. Although not as visibly apparent as their firefighter colleagues, their work is equally significant. We appreciate AC Maloney’s commitment to fire prevention leadership.”
The Washington State Association of Fire Marshals mission is to improve “safety through prevention” in the State of Washington through our affiliations and partnerships. Formed in 1999, WSAFM offers training and resources for its members. More information can be found here: www.wsafm.com.
