Minimum Firefighter Qualifications

The Marysville Fire District is a career fire department. All firefighter jobs are paid positions.

• Must be at least 21 years old at time of hire
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Driver's License
• Current Washington state Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
• Firefighter I certification preferred
• Meet or exceed established standards throughout the hiring process*

Testing and Interviews

All applicants will be notified whether or not they are selected to participate in our interview and testing process. Interviews are typically scheduled two to three weeks following the closing date of a position.

Applicants may be asked to participate in oral interviews, a written exam and practical exam during the selection process. Employment for firefighters may be contingent on passing a physical, drug screen, background check, psychological exam and reference check.
