Chief Ned Vander Pol brings 27 years of fire and emergency medical services experience to our community.
Chief Vander Pol began his fire service career in 1995 as a volunteer firefighter in California. He then served for two decades with the Vista Fire Department in San Diego County, rising through the ranks before retiring as Vista’s Fire Chief in December 2022. In February 2023, he was appointed as Marysville Fire District's Fire Chief.
With a strong commitment to public safety, Chief Vander Pol holds a master’s degree in public administration, completed the executive fire officer program at the National Fire Academy, and earned his Chief Officer credential from the Commission on Professional Credentialing of the Center for Public Safety Excellence. He leads with a community-first approach, actively engaging with residents to understand their safety needs while supporting the dedicated personnel providing emergency services.
